JCIPatientSafety.orgHospital Quality Directory

About JCIPatientSafety.org

JCIPatientSafety.org is an independent, non-commercial directory of US hospital quality and safety data. Our goal is to make the same data that hospital boards and clinicians read easy to find and easy to read for patients, families, and researchers.

What we do

We take the public files published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and present them one hospital at a time - with the star rating, the underlying measures, plain-English explanations, and links to related facilities. We add no editorial rankings and do not accept payment for placement. See our editorial policy for the full standards we work to.

What we do not do

  • We are not a medical provider and do not offer medical advice.
  • We do not rate hospitals ourselves - CMS does.
  • We do not accept payment from hospitals to change how they appear.

    Methodology review

Methodology and measure descriptions on this site are reviewed against the CMS Provider Data Catalog technical documentation before each release cycle.

Corrections

If you spot a listing that is out of date or incorrect, that almost always means the underlying CMS file is out of date. We refresh our data with each CMS release. For step-by-step reporting, see our corrections policy.
